Joanne graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY, in 1981. She began her career as a sportswear designer for Oleg Cassini (who was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' designer). She continued her career as a menswear/outwear designer for Winer Industries and an active sportswear designer for LeCoq Sportif. She was the Design Director for Danskin, and a specialized fashion designer in active sportswear focused upon performance apparel for Danskin and Reebok, International. She designed collections for worldwide retail distribution, celebrity professional athletes, and the 1988 US Olympic Swim Team. A former instructor of fashion illustration, portfolio design, and millinery/accessory design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design; and an author of the textbook, Designing Your fashion Portfolio, published by Fairchild/Conde Nast.

Joanne is currently serving as VP of the Board of Directors at Global Ties Miami  Global Ties Miami, part of the U.S. Department of State, for over 55 years facilitates professional, educational and cultural exchange tours of emerging and established global leaders in business, government and civil society. As a newly added board member, "Joanne brings her unique background and global experience in Art and Fashion Design.
